who chris is

CHRIS PORTER is an award-winning writer, composer, and sound designer of podcasts, concert works, film, theater, and immersive events that have been seen, heard, and experienced around the world.

His unique approach to words, music, and sound stems from his belief that stories can be transformative encounters. No matter how fictional the world, what the audience feels is REAL. He understands that all facets of a narrative experience should work together to push the story forward and leave a lasting impact.

So whether it’s writing songs that you’d swear were from the 1920s, live-texting as a character in an ARG setting to walk you through complicated original puzzles, composing educational songs that teach you about the solar system, or scripting a private moment with a character that will leave you in tears—

Chris makes stories happen.

Chris is the Creator, Co-Director, and Composer of the award-winning SOLAR: The Podcast, available on all podcasting platforms. He also serves the Associate Artistic Director for The Speakeasy Society, an immersive entertainment company that creates intimate and epic work in unexpected places. His roles there include Head Writer and Music Director. He is also a frequent collaborator with the Independent Shakespeare Company and The Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival in Los Angeles.

He earned his MFA in Music Composition from California Institute of the Arts and a BMA in Music Composition from Baldwin-Wallace University.

He is based out of Los Angeles, CA.
